History of Yoga Therapy:
Yoga
has been used in traditional Indian medicine for thousands
of years. However, Yoga therapy in its present form is
a new discipline, created by the marriage of traditional
Yoga with modern medicine. Swami Kuvalyananda pioneered
Yoga therapy in the early 1920s, applying the methods
of modern medical science to study the physiological effects
and therapeutic application of Yoga and, in the following
decades, his practices spread to the rest of India &
World.

Yoga Therapy Application:
Yoga comprises a wide range of mind/body practices, ranging
from postural and breathing exercises to deep relaxation
and meditation. Yoga therapy tailors these to the health
needs of individuals. It promotes all round total health,
as well as helping particular medical conditions. Yoga
offers an excellent training program for the purpose of
maintaining one’s health. Regular practice of Yoga, for
minimum 30 to 45 minutes daily, helps not only in developing
a physical fitness but also, in preventing the occurrence
of many such ailments which invariably result from hectic
pace of modern life style. |
Yogic
practices are very effective in the treatment if various functional
and Psycho-physiological disorders. When Yogic practices are
used either as a complimentary or as in some cases, even as
a substitute to the conventional treatment, it definitely
leads to a long term relief and possible permanent cure.
Our object
is to develop a clear and rationale understanding of various
Yogic techniques, on educating the individual in identifying
the unhealthy elements in their day to day living which contribute
in their problem and holding them in correcting the factors.
